TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE


Effective Date: These Terms and Conditions govern all services provided by Get Online Bookkeeping (hereinafter "the Company") to its clients. By engaging our services, you agree to be bound by these terms.


1. PAYMENT TERMS
​1.1 Tax Filing Services

Payment for all tax filing services — including personal income tax returns, corporate tax returns, GST/HST filings, and T4/T5 slips preparation — is due in full immediately upon completion and delivery of the completed filing to the client. Work will not be submitted to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) or delivered to the client until payment has been received in full.

​1.2 Bookkeeping Services

Monthly bookkeeping service fees are due and payable at the beginning of each service month, prior to the commencement of work for that month. Once bookkeeping work has commenced for a billing period, all charges for that period are non-refundable, regardless of whether the client chooses to discontinue services mid-period.

​1.3 Preferred Payment Method — Interac E-Transfer

The preferred and primary payment method is Interac E-Transfer. Please send all payments to:

Auto-deposit is enabled — no security question or password is required.

​1.4 Overdue Accounts

Balances unpaid after 30 days from the due date will be subject to an interest charge of 1.5% per month (18% per annum) on the outstanding amount. The Company reserves the right to suspend or terminate services for accounts with outstanding overdue balances.


2. NON-REFUNDABLE CHARGES

All fees paid to Get Online Bookkeeping are non-refundable once work has commenced. This applies to, but is not limited to:

  • Bookkeeping services once the billing month has begun

  • Tax preparation once document review and data entry has started

  • Consultation fees once the consultation has taken place

  • Setup or onboarding fees


In the event of a dispute regarding service quality, the Company will make reasonable efforts to resolve the matter and, where appropriate, may offer a service credit at its sole discretion. Refund requests must be submitted in writing within 14 days of the invoice date.


3. SCOPE OF SERVICES

Services provided by Get Online Bookkeeping are limited to those expressly described in the invoice or engagement agreement. The Company provides bookkeeping, tax preparation, payroll administration, and related administrative services. Our services do not constitute legal advice, investment advice, or regulated financial planning under applicable Alberta or federal legislation.

Any additional services requested beyond the original scope will be quoted and invoiced separately and are subject to these same terms.


4. CLIENT RESPONSIBILITIES

The client is solely responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of all financial documents, receipts, statements, and information required to perform the requested services. The Company will not be liable for any errors, penalties, interest charges, or CRA assessments arising from:

  • Incomplete or inaccurate information provided by the client

  • Late submission of required documents by the client

  • Changes in the client’s circumstances not communicated to the Company

  • Errors in source documents provided by third parties


The client acknowledges that it is their responsibility to review and approve all completed work before filing or submission.


5. CONFIDENTIALITY AND PRIVACY

Get Online Bookkeeping treats all client financial information as strictly confidential. Client information will not be disclosed to any third party without the client’s prior written consent, except where required by law, including but not limited to:

  • Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) audits, inquiries, or compliance requirements

  • Court orders or legal process

  • Regulatory obligations under applicable Alberta or federal legislation


The Company complies with the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) of Alberta and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) with respect to the collection, use, and storage of personal information.


6. RECORD RETENTION

The Company retains client working files, records, and copies of filed returns for a minimum of seven (7) years in accordance with CRA requirements. Clients may request copies of their filed returns and supporting documents at any time. A reasonable administrative fee may apply for retrieval of records beyond two years from the filing date.


7. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

The Company’s total liability for any claim, loss, or damage arising from services provided shall not exceed the total fees paid by the client for the specific service engagement giving rise to the claim. The Company shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, incidental, punitive, or special damages, including lost profits or business interruption, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

The Company is not responsible for penalties, interest, or reassessments imposed by the CRA or other tax authorities that result from information or instructions provided by the client.


8. DISPUTE RESOLUTION

Any concerns or disputes regarding services must be communicated to the Company in writing within thirty (30) days of the invoice date. The Company will make reasonable efforts to investigate and resolve disputes promptly. Errors attributable to the Company’s work will be corrected at no additional charge. Disputes not resolved informally will be subject to mediation before any formal legal proceedings are initiated.


9. TERMINATION OF SERVICES

Either party may terminate the service relationship upon written notice. In the event of termination by the client, all fees for services already commenced or delivered remain due and payable. The Company reserves the right to terminate services immediately in cases of non-payment, provision of fraudulent information, or conduct that places the Company’s professional standing at risk.

Upon termination, the Company will provide the client with copies of all completed work and relevant documents within 14 business days.


10. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and constructed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Alberta and the applicable federal laws of Canada. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Alberta.


11. AMENDMENTS

The Company reserves the right to update or amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Clients will be notified of material changes. Continued engagement with the Company’s services following notification of amendments constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
